Before their being brought up to the Manila Cathedral-Basilica (MCB) Bell Tower for installation, the twenty-three (23) complete Carillon Bells were blessed in simple rites after the 7:30 A.M. Mass at the MCB.
The twenty-three complete Carillon Bells were donated by Mr. Albert & Mrs. Sylvia Lina, of the Lina Group of Companies. The said bells were to replace the existing chime bells of fourteen (14) bells.
The donation is a blessing in disguise because it makes possible the playing of Pope Francis’ Papal Visit Hymn, which cannot be played by chime bells.
The carillon bells’ playing of Pope Francis’ Papal Visit Hymn can be done as he disembarks the Papal Car he is riding on from Malacanan to the Manila Cathedral-Basilica.
The carillon bells will be solemnly blessed and inaugurated by His Eminence, Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle on Thursday, December 11, 2014 immediately after the 6:00 P.M. mass.(Pictures by Arman Fernandez)
